Bio

I'm a small-town girl from New York state's dairy country who has spent most of her adult life living and working in New York City. This gives me the useful double vision of a stranger and a resident for writing mysteries about Brooklyn, my ever-fascinating, ever-changing, ever-challenging adopted home. Writing is a third career. The first was the job that inspired this series, working as a children's librarian in a dozen sharply different Brooklyn communities. The second was many years in business research, in settings from a major global consulting firm to... DC Comics. Guess which was more fun? I had Brooklyn stories in three editions of the anthology series Murder New York Style, and in the forthcoming fourth; and have been active in both Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime.
